2012 Rally Volunteers Needed

Sacramento Women Take Back the Night is recruiting volunteers for the October 13th Rally. It will be an evening of remembrance, celebration, and action to stand against all forms of violence against women and children.

A Volunteer Orientation will be held in the parking lot of the Sacramento Native American Health Center at 2020 J Street (the site where the event will be held) from 3-4 pm on Sunday October 7th. After the orientation we will have a BBQ/Button-Making Party to prepare for the event.

Please read through the volunteer position descriptions and shifts below.  Respond to [email protected] with all positions and shifts you can commit to, as well as any preferences or limitations you may have. Please include your name, phone number, and email:

Shifts: Set up 3pm-5pm, Rally 5pm-8pm, March 8pm-9pm, Take Down 8pm-10pm 
 
Security Volunteers:
* Ensure a safe space for all event participants and attendees
* Be a visible presence at the rally and respond to any disturbances
* Accompany the march staggered throughout the group of marchers and respond to any disturbances
* Support volunteers during set up and take down
 
March Monitors:
* Ensure a safe space for all event participants and attendees
* Set up the location for the event by assembling tables and chairs, hanging signs, and marking march route (10+)
* Hand out programs during the rally
* Pass the hat during the rally
* Accompany the march staggered throughout the group of marchers and encourage and support participants to TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!
* Keep marchers on sidewalks and assist across streets
* Take down all tables, chairs, and signs, put away supplies, throw away trash (non-marching)
