About us

History

Take Back the Night events have been held annually in Sacramento since 1979, as part of an international feminist tradition of rallies and marches organized around the world for more than 40 years.  Sacramento’s Annual Take Back the Night Rally & March takes place on Second Saturday in October and includes a Resource Fair with more than 35 community organizations; a Rally featuring powerful, diverse, mission-driven leaders, speakers, performers and survivors; and a March through Midtown in protest of the systematic ways in which patriarchy, violence, and oppression continue to impact our lives.

The Annual Rally & March is open to all genders and identities and includes an annual community project, activities for children, and encourages allies to become actively involved in resisting and ending sexual, gender-based, and all forms of violence.

Mission

Our mission is to resist and end sexual, gender-based, and all forms of violence through community-led action.

Vision

Our vision is a world in which every community is empowered and free of violence and oppression.
